Melissa Hurst Ph.D., Vice President of Executive Search at Slone Partners, is an experienced consultant and recruiter with an extensive track record of success serving on executive level teams. She has spent much of her career advising institutions on contemporary talent acquisition strategies and organizational design needed to support and sustain growth and scalability. An effective communicator, Melissa is recognized for her excellent collaboration skills, decisiveness, and proficiency at remaining strategic and nimble during periods of rapid change. Her areas of specialty include executive recruitment, higher education, leadership development, project management, coaching and advising, and educational psychology.

Before joining Slone Partners, Melissa served as Special Advisor to the President at the University of Toledo, where she drove human resources leadership strategy and direction for the University’s recruitment, retention, and organizational development functions. Prior to that, she served as Principal, in Healthcare Executive Search at Korn Ferry, where her responsibilities included business development, project management, and project delivery. Earlier in her career, Melissa worked as Director of Executive Recruitment, Executive Search Group, and Director of Professional Development, Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs, at the University of Virginia. She also served as an instructor of educational psychology at the University of South Carolina.

Melissa holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Education, and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of South Carolina. She is a Certified Professional Coach as designated by the College of Executive Coaching.
