La’Vonda joined Slone Partners in 2008 as the Associate Director of Research in the Medical Technology Division, directly from her work as a medical technologist in the diagnostic laboratory industry.  As a Lead Technologist, La’Vonda managed the daily and complex operations of testing performed in the laboratory. 

During her tenure as a medical technologist, La’Vonda worked in the areas of hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology and blood banking and gained extensive knowledge of laboratory quality control and assurance.  She also played an integral part in candidate selection within the laboratory.

La’Vonda is a proud graduate of Old Dominion University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology.  She is currently a board member for the North Carolina Society of Clinical Laboratory Science and edits its newsletter.   She is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathology.

La’Vonda’s significant contributions to the diagnostic laboratory industry have been recognized several times, including:

• Omicron Sigma Award for service to the laboratory industry (Regional level – 2004, State level – 2005, 2006, 2008)
• Quest Student Leader of the Year – 2004
• Keys to the Future Award – 2005

La’Vonda spends her free time simply enjoying life and baking cookies with her husband and two-year-old son.   La’Vonda also volunteers weekly as a laboratory technician at the Open Door Clinic in Raleigh, NC.
