Jeff Smith joined Slone Partners in 2007. With his diverse and outstanding experiences, Jeff is an ideal choice to head up Slone Partners Leadership Development division. Jeff comes to Slone Partners after nearly five years of successful HR and Operations experience at Carilion Clinic where he was in charge of HR for Carilion Laboratories in addition to HR operations at several community hospitals in Southwest Virginia.

Jeff previously directed all the HR departments in the community hospitals for Carilion as well as the HR Consulting group. Included in his areas of HR expertise are: organizational development, organizational change, succession planning, executive coaching, teambuilding, and leadership development and recruiting. Recently, Jeff has given speeches for G-2, War College, and Kennedy Recruiting on topics including: executive and leadership development, succession planning, teambuilding, change management, and strategic recruiting.

Jeff joined Carilion after working for Capital One in Virginia for 12 years. During his professional career, Jeff has held various roles including: Senior HR Consultant, Director of Global Training Programs, Sr. Manager of Call Centers, HR analyst, Manager, Recruiter, Generalist, and Trainer. His experiences include: 6 Merger and Acquisition projects; running call centers as large as 500 employees; developing and implementing several leadership programs worldwide; selection team for new sites for Capital One; consultant for new businesses; executive coach for individuals and teams; and start up of at least 4 new businesses.

Jeff graduated cum laude with a BBA from James Madison University in management and history. He also holds a MA from George Washington University in Human Resource Development. Additionally, Jeff graduated from Georgetown University with an Executive Coaching and Leadership Certificate and became a Fellow of the Advisory Board in 2006.

Jeff is happily married and has two daughters and two sons who he loves to take to baseball games, hiking, or running. Jeff enjoys all sports (especially JMU and Atlanta Braves) and loves running marathons.
